Building Africa's intelligence infrastructure from the inside. Mwangaza Watch is an open source intelligence platform producing structured data and analytical products on human security in Africa, grounded in evidence, transparent in method, and accessible to those who need it most.
Mwangaza means radiance or illumination in Kiswahili. The name reflects a single premise: the information needed to protect people, hold institutions accountable, and make sound decisions about human security already exists in the public domain. It just needs to be found, structured, and made useful.
To transform publicly available information into structured, traceable intelligence that supports evidence-based decisions on human security in Africa.
To make Africa's human security landscape visible, measurable, and understood through structured intelligence.
Mwangaza Watch is an African-led platform that transforms Africa's fragmented open information into useful human security insights. Public information about human security exists in abundance, but it is scattered, unstructured, and difficult to use. We collect it, process it, and turn it into intelligence that organisations can act on.
Our briefings are open to all. Our commissioned work, datasets, and ongoing monitoring are available through partnership with organisations that need intelligence tailored to their specific questions and contexts.

Mwangaza Watch is built on the conviction that Africa's human security challenges deserve African-led intelligence, grounded in local knowledge, transparent methods, and internationally recognised analytical standards.
